Brandon's Tackle Bag: Spike-It |
|
Spike-It: What can I say about this stuff. It's fantastic. I really only use a few types mainly the chartreuse, with and without garlic and salt flavors. I typically have 3 or 4 bottles in my tackle bags, 2 or 3 bottles in my boat and a few aerosol cans floating around just in case I can't find a bottle anywhere else. Also, might I make a suggestion, buy a few bottles of the Spike-It Neutralizer. This neutralizer is a lifesaver since the Spike-It dye works so well.

Spike-It Dye (Bottle): I typically use the bottle to dip my soft plastics baits in. This is great for dipping my beaver type baits and flipping / pitching baits in through out the day. It is also great for dipping the ends of skirts into the bottle. Be cautious though that at some point, the bottle will begin to be more empty than full and you will need to tilt the bottle to achieve the desired results (thus facilitating the need for the neutralizer ). Tip: At the end of fishing trips I will often consolidate 1/4 to 1/2 full bottles of Spike-It into single bottles so I dont have to worry about spillage into the boat or onto my clothes.
Spike-It Dye (Aerosol): I will normally use the aerosol only when I can't use the bottles (i.e. when I need to dye odd locations of a bait or spray spinnerbait blades). I did start off using the aerosol because there was less probabilty of spillage on my boat and clothes. I have since learned that each have their place and will keep each in my boat at all times.
