Brandon's Tackle Bag: Fishing Line |
|
Fishing Line: Almost, everyone knows I am a Power pro fanatic. All my reels have PowerPro on them.
 |
What Most People don't know is that I use a few flavors of Power Pro.
Why PowerPro?: Compared to monofilament, I dont have to re-spool as often and I dont have to worry about breaking off as much so the minimal investment in the PowerPro products is well worth it. Also, I really just like the sensitivity it gives me. There are times when I will fish with guys who have mono on and they just don't seem to be "feeling" the bites. But with my PowerPro, it really seems that I can get an extra jump on a fish that may not be fully willing to commit to an aggressive strike which translates to more fish in the boat. |
Normal Applications (Spinnerbaits, cranking, etc.) - 20lb PowerPro / 8lb Diameter (Moss Green Color) - I use this because of the small diameter allows for long casts and alot of sensitivity. I also like the moss green color because it will typically blend in with the water colors nicely. You can ask anyone who has fished from the back of my boat, I rarely break off on and forms of structure and have little trouble catching fish with my line of choice.
Flipping and Pitching Applications (Jigs,Worms etc.) - 40-65lb PowerPro (RED Color) - Notice I say 40-60lb here. This is because I let the situation dictate what I need. However, I have found that typically 40lb will be the standard except for the most extreme of fishing situations and then I will go to 65lb. Also notice that I pick the color RED. Some people may not like the RED color but I find that when fishing heavy structure that the RED stands out well against background objects and helps me to detect any subtle movement when potentially unagressive fish may just pick up the lure.
Many congrats to Shimano for acquiring the PowerPro product line. I am sure they will continue building the quality product that we have come to expect from the PowerPro family.
